The Revival of Enamel Jewelry: A Case Study in Cultural Innovation
As the independent student designer of an enamel Jewelry company, Michelle consider designing enamel jewelry a successful way of revitalizing traditional cultures and offering valuable insights into cultural heritage preservation. By commercializing through off-site stores and gaining exposure at international cultural exhibitions, this art form has achieved widespread popularity.
Raising awareness for Breast Cancer
Michelle is deeply involved with Pink Ribbon, a non-profit supporting breast cancer patients. She first donated her own hair to make custom wigs for patients—addressing an overlooked yet impactful need—and used this to promote a teenager’s hair donation initiative, empowering more young people to contribute. To further support the cause, she leverages her enamel jewelry expertise by donating pieces (like her signature pins): gifting them to patients on International Women’s Day and giving them to volunteers as thanks. Through this dual effort—practical support (wigs) and symbolic care (jewelry)—she shows commitment to patients and volunteers, while raising breast cancer awareness.
Peking University Culture Show
Enamel production, representing one of China's traditional cultures, participated in the International Cultural Festival of Peking University in 2025 to showcase enamel jewelry and handicrafts to representatives of international students from over 30 countries, and expand the influence of traditional culture through face-to-face communication with international students.
To Corporation Customers
Michelle, with her members, organized several workshops educating adults on making enamel decorations and jewelry through the corporate channel, for the corporate employees’ welfare. These workshops have collaborated with international employees in Zhongxin Telecommunication Corp., spreading Chinese aesthetics or Business Representatives from Singapore to make a cup mat.
Nanshan Museum Exhibition
We organized several activities showcasing enamel colored jewelry and accessories at Nanshan Museum in Shenzhen, in conjunction with the Dunhuang Art Exhibition, to introduce enamel painting craftsmanship and its contribution to traditional cultural craftsmanship to many citizens, especially families visiting during the summer vacation.
2024 BPC Pitch
Isabelle and her team members attended the 2024 Harvard Business Education Publisher's Business Pioneer Case Challenge (BPC). As case analysis, they represented the Palace Museum and formed strategic alliances with Chanel to develop a luxury perfume line inspired by ‌ancient Chinese fragrances. They attracted many participants in the booth show and secured a ‌Top 4 ranking among over 300 teams.
2023 BPC Pitch
In 2023, Michelle and her teammates also participated in the BPC Challenge. Representing Haidilao, their team collaborated with a team from the Palace Museum to launch a proposal for the "Haidilao Bronze Ding Set," aiming to bring traditional cultural relics into people's daily lives. Eventually, they ranked among the top 10 out of 300 participating teams.
